...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Snow occurring. Plan on slippery road conditions. Additional snow accumulations of up to three inches are expected.

* WHERE...The western and southern Adirondacks, Mohawk and Schoharie Valleys, Lake George Saratoga Region and the Helderbergs of east central New York.

* WHEN...Until 3 PM EST this afternoon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times and snow covered roads. Maximum snowfall rates of a half inch to one inch per hour are expected.

* PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

At 1226 PM EST, an area of heavy snow was located near Preston Hollow, or 18 miles southwest of Delmar, moving northeast at 20 mph. Locations impacted include...

Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Pittsfield, Bennington, Clifton Park, Rotterdam, Saratoga Springs, East Greenbush, Cohoes, North Adams, Watervliet, Rensselaer, Colonie, Scotia, Hudson, Mechanicville, Catskill, Saugerties and Hoosick Falls. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS...

Interstate 88 near exit 23. Interstate 90 between exits 8 and 1s, and between exits 8 and 6-5A. Interstate 890 near exit 7. Interstate 87 between exits 1 and 8A , near exit 13, and between exits 8-9 and 9. Interstate 787 between exits 2 and 8-7. Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a quarter of a mile in this area of heavy snow. Snowfall rates of 0.5 - 1.0 inch per hour are possible in this band with snow quickly accumulating. Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time when traveling.
